BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A Battle Creek firefighter is recovering from bumps and bruises he suffered while battling a fire at a house at 45 Magnolia Street late Tuesday afternoon.
They say it appears to have started and was largely confined to the area of the home where the kitchen and laundry room are located.
Smoke was coming out of a couple of windows as crews arrived just after 5 p.m.
The firefighter was treated and released for minor injuries he suffered when parts of a ceiling collapsed onto him.
They were able to knock down the fire quickly, but not before it caused around $70,000 damage to the home and its contents.
The cause remains under investigation.
