BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Police in Battle Creek have arrested a 34-year-old for felonious assault and home invasion after a break-in at a residence on Vale Street.
Reports indicate the Battle Creek man arrived after 5 a.m. Thursday with an ax and three pit bulls. He was also seen on the porch with a shotgun. Investigators with the Battle Creek Police Department say he argued with the residents an hour before the incident about property inside the home.
During the incident, they say he used a crow bar to pry open a storm door, then threatened a person with a shotgun and others with the ax and a pair of large hunting knives.
Officers found two guns under the home’s porch after the man came out from behind his car and was arrested.
The dogs, which were running around the property when officers arrived, were turned over to the suspect’s girlfriend. They were not harmed.
