KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — It was ten years ago Saturday that Dr. John Dunn first stepped on the Western Michigan University campus for the interview that would lead to his hiring as the President of the University.
They held a celebration at Miller Auditorium Friday afternoon, with performances and a number of prominent speakers including Congressman Fred Upton and Mayor Bobby Hopewell…
Dunn saluted the community, the faculty and his team of administrators, but said he was most proud that he had gotten to award 50,000 diplomas to students.
He ended with his catchphrase, “It’s a great day to be a Bronco”…which he added will always stay here. A dig at PJ Fleck who took his catchphrase with him…and is now rowing his boat elsewhere.
Dunn retires at the end of June, but plans to remain in Kalamazoo as President Emeritus to assist with the transition for the new President.
