HASTINGS (WKZO AM/FM) –A Barry County man is recovering in a Kalamazoo Hospital from injuries he suffered in a fiery head on collision with a tractor-trailer rig near Hastings Monday afternoon.
Deputies say the 59-year-old from Dowling tried to avoid rear-ending an SUV that had stopped for another vehicle turning left, clipped the back of the SUV and swerved right into the path of the oncoming big-rig.
The Truck drier managed to hit the brakes, but could not stop in time to avoid a collision.
Both drivers managed to get out before their vehicles burst into flames.
The Dowling man was transported to Borgess Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
No one else was injured.
