CONSTANTINE, MI (WTVB) – A 26 year old woman from Plymouth, Indiana is lodged in the St. Joseph County Jail on eight charges after a police pursuit late Wednesday night. Michigan State Police say the pursuit started at 11:00pm on U.S. 12 near Vistula Road when Troopers attempted to stop a speeding vehicle. They say they vehicle refused to stop and during the pursuit, the suspect rammed a State Police patrol car along with a bystander’s vehicle. There were no injuries. The pursuit reached speeds between 75 and 85 miles an hour and went into the residential portion of the Village of Constantine.
It ended on US 131 at Riverside Drive.
Authorities suspected drug use and arrested the driver for Felony Assault, Fleeing and Eluding, Possession of Methamphetamines, Possession of Marijuana, O.W.I. (drugs), Reckless Driving, Hit & Run and Resisting Arrest. Officers from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department assisted. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending her upcoming arraignment.
