COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Tekonsha man was formally arraigned Tuesday in Branch County District Court, following a police chase last August in Girard Township.
30-year-old Jonathon Clay Shephard is facing four charges including possession of methamphetamine, third degree fleeing and eluding as well as assaulting or resisting a police officer.
Court documents indicate Shephard got away on foot after a Michigan State Police Trooper tried to pull him over for having a noisy muffler.
While he got away, police found a smart phone in his vehicle and managed to gather information about the suspect which led to a warrant being issued for his arrest.
According to court documents, Shephard was convicted in Calhoun County back in 2010 for operating and maintaining a methamphetamine lab.
Bond has been set at $50,000. A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for May 4, 2017 with a preliminary exam May 10.
