KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller says 2016 was a busy year for his deputies, according to a newly-published annual report.
He says calls for service were up 26 percent.
“That’s a lot on its own,” Fuller said. “But when you start looking how many calls that actually means, the sheriff’s office handles over 52,000 calls a year.”
And several locations are showing big spikes.
“Oshtemo was one of the top ones, a 34 percent increase over the last five years,” Fuller said. “Richland was number one, a 35 percent call-for-service increase since 2011.”
Fuller says it underscores a need for more deputies. The full report can be viewed here.
