MARENGO TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM/FM) — A commercial driver from North Carolina was given multiple citations late Wednesday after rolling a tractor-trailer carrying 43,000 pounds of cucumbers east of Marshall.
The 47-year-old man found himself in a bit of a pickle while trying to exit from eastbound Interstate 94 onto Partello Road in Marengo Township around 10:40 p.m.
Sheriff’s deputies in Calhoun County say he was speeding when he blew past a stop sign, then rolled the vehicle onto its side while attempting to turn onto the surface street.
The driver did not suffer any injuries.
Clean-up and removal of the semitrailer required a nearly eight-hour closure of the road and the freeway exit ramps.
