VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO-AM/FM) — A Missouri man has been charged with four felony assault counts and is being held Friday morning on $1 million bond after sheriff’s deputies say he stabbed two people during an argument in a car in Van Buren County last Sunday night.
Boyd Hicks, 47, had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend at her home near South Haven, and her daughter offered to drive Hicks to Kalamazoo to separate the two. Her boyfriend went along.
The argument picked up again and allegedly Boyd took out a knife and slashed the two others from the back seat at M-43 and Hidden Pines Drive. She stopped the car and escaped to call for help while Boyd and her boyfriend squared off.
All three were treated for knife wounds and have since been discharged.
Boyd is being held in the Van Buren County Jail on two counts of attempted murder and two assault with a dangerous weapon charges.
