TEKONSHA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A 73-year-old Tekonsha area woman had to be rescued from her car Thursday morning after it crashed into an energized electrical pole and trapped her inside.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened in the 13000 block of N Drive South at about 10:30 a.m. when the woman accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake pedal. Her car then shot out of the driveway and struck the electrical pole which was located in a ditch.
A Consumers Energy crew had to be called in to de-energize the line so she could be removed from the vehicle safely.
There were no injuries. Arnie’s Towing of Tekonsha also provided assistance.
