QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Quincy Village Manager Eric Zuzga announced Monday that Police Chief Scot Olney has submitted his resignation, after serving as Chief since January 2013.
No reason was given for Olney’s departure in a news release issued by the village but Zuzga said, “the village appreciates the almost five years of service from Chief Olney and wishes him well in his future endeavors.”
Jeremy Burch has been appointed the Interim Chief until a decision on a permanent Chief is made.
Zuzga says Burch has been with the department since it was formed in 2013 and brings 10 years of experience as an officer to his new role. Burch at one time worked for the Branch County Sheriff’s Office.
Zuzga says he has full faith in Burch’s ability to lead the department and the entire Police Department have his full support and that of the Village Council.
A timetable for the naming of a permanent chief has not been determined.
The Quincy Police Department is staffed by three full-time employees and four part-time officers.
