CONSTANTINE (WKZO AM/FM) — St. Joseph County officials have corrected a huge miscarriage of justice in a court room in Centreville yesterday when Ray McCann was exonerated.
He was a reserve police officer who was wrongfully accused of being the prime suspect in the murder of Jody Parrick, convicted of lying about where he was on the night of the crime because of lies told by detectives, and spent two years in jail, an innocent man.
It took lawyers, like David Moran from the Michigan Innocence Clinic to clear his name, after Daniel Furlong confessed to the Parrick murder years later.
Moran says the behavior of State Police investigators was reprehensible.
Now McCann is free to try to put his life back together after being ostracized in the community where he grew up.
