KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — West Michigan got it’s white Christmas, but it’s also gotten travel advisories and warnings, Lake Effect snow bands, blowing and drifting, white outs, slick roads and generally hazardous conditions for travel, and wind chills in single digits.
As many as four inches of blowing and drifting snow will blanket most of West Michigan by tonight. Cass and Berrien County could get as much as half a foot.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Kent, Kalamazoo, Muskegon, Van Buren, Allegan, and Ottawa counties through 7 p.m. Along the Indiana state line, Berrien and Cass counties are under a winter storm warning through 7 p.m., with up to six inches of snow expected.
The Blue Dolphin will be offering its traditional free community Christmas dinner today at the restaurant on South Burdick.
Owner Steve Stamos says he started the tradition 39 years ago as a thank you for the community and it has grown considerably since then.
He says they will have several holiday meals to choose from beginning at noon until 3 pm.
