QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Snow covered roads were a factor in a two vehicle Christmas Eve crash near Tekonsha that took the life of a Quincy woman and injured a teenage boy.
Michigan State Police say 51-year-old Lorraine Cutler lost her life from injuries suffered in the accident on Old 27 just north of the Branch-Calhoun County line.
State Police say Cutler was a front seat passenger in a southbound vehicle that went out of control at 5:38 p.m. on Christmas Eve, crossed the center line and slid into the path of a northbound vehicle.
The Cutler vehicle was struck on the passenger side.
A 13-year-old boy who was injured in the accident was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. State Police say he was related to Cutler. The accident is still under investigation.
A news release on the accident was not released for four days because the bad weather has kept troopers busy.
A GoFundMe page to raise $6,000 which would assist with funeral arrangements has been set up by her family.
