KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Bullying has been on the rise, and civility has taken a beating over the past year because of National politics and the rough and tumble campaign.
In reaction to that and some incidents in Portage Public Schools, the city of Portage co-sponsored a forum this morning on how to restore and reinforce civil behavior in the local community.
The organizers assembled an impressive array of community officials, and also invited some local citizens who have experienced bullying and discrimination first hand to tell their experiences.
The event at the Fetzer Center featured speakers and panels from law enforcement, local elected officials and other leadership groups to discuss ways they are addressing the issue of civility and ways that might be employed to improve it.
