EMMETT TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM/FM) — It’s not unusual to hear about chain reaction collisions this time of the year, but it’s usually associated with icy roads and white outs.
That was not the case at all on Columbia Avenue and Main Street in Battle Creek just before noon Saturday when five cars got involved in two wrecks at the intersection in Emmett Township.
Police say it began when a westbound woman on Columbia did not yield to oncoming traffic and pulled left into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
The eastbound victim required treatment at Bronson Battle Creek after she was pried from her damaged car. The driver under investigation was not injured.
A separate chain reaction crash occurred when a third vehicle suddenly stopped to avoid hitting the wreckage from the first wreck and two other cars piled-up behind. None of those drivers were injured.
