MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – A 24-year-old Albion man was arrested on Tuesday by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly tried to smuggle narcotics into the County Jail.
The incident occurred at about 10:00 a.m., when deputies received information that a person waiting in the probation area was possibly concealing heroin on his body. Deputies located the man who admitted that he anticipated being sent to jail by his probation agent. He indicated that he had a serious addiction to heroin and was worried about the detox period while he was incarcerated. Deputies say the suspect removed several packets of heroin and analogues.
He was arrested and held for a bond violation. Additional charges are expected regarding the narcotics.
