KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The bitter cold has left area roadways ice covered and slippery.
There have been a number of slide-offs and minor accidents reported in the area, especially along I-94 and U.S. 131.
Cass County reports that 32-year-old woman from Buchanan slid on the ice into the intersection of Carberry Road and Lake Street and was struck by a car coming at her in the opposite lane.
The driver of that second car, Christine Robbins of Niles was transported to St. Joe Medical Center in Mishawaka for further treatment.
There have been no other reports of major injuries in the area.
Drivers are advised to use extreme caution when traveling, particularly on side streets and secondary roads.
More snow is coming, but isn’t expected to stick around long because of another warm-up forecast for early in the work-week.
