COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County case of two bank robbery suspects is in legal limbo right now.
John Thomas Morgan and Nikole Collins were scheduled to go on trial January 31, 2017 for their alleged part in the robbery of the Century Bank and Trust branch in Quincy in March 2016. But Branch County court proceedings are on hold to see if the couple will be taken to court by the federal government.
Morgan was scheduled to have a final pre-trial Tuesday, while Collins was scheduled to be in court last Friday.
No hearings in the case are presently on the Circuit Court docket as everyone involved in the proceedings await a decision from federal prosecutors.
Morgan and Collins have entered not guilty pleas to three counts of bank robbery, three counts of unarmed robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit bank robbery.
The Quincy robbery was part of a series of area hold ups. Although Morgan and Collins were mentioned as possible suspects, no charges have been filed.
