BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — If a picture is worth a thousand words…a video is worth even more, in this case saving the public the cost of prosecuting Darriyone Clark-Brown of Battle Creek for trying to kill a Battle Creek Police officer.
Prosecutor Dan Gilbert says the 21-year-old will not contest the seven counts against him, including attempted murder, and a number of gun felonies, even-though it could mean a prison sentence of nearly 24-years.
Gilbert says they never offered a plea deal in this case. It’s too serious.
The crime was all captured on a damning dash-cam video that shows the alleged assault.
It happened March 7, 2016 as officer Bradley Gentry pulled Clark-Brown over for a routine speeding violation, and had walked up to the driver’s side window.
If not for his quick reflexes, Gentry would have been shot in the head. After a wild high speed chase around Battle Creek’s far north side, Police say the suspect holed up in a home on Coolidge Street for four hours before finally surrendering.
