BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A 61-year old woman suffered serious injuries after the back half of her car was crushed by semi-hauling grain that rear-ended her vehicle on M-66 near Beckley Road on the south side of Battle Creek at about 2:40 yesterday afternoon.
The impact ignited a fire in the engine compartment of the semi, but the truck driver was not injured.
Fire Rescue put out the flames and removed the woman from the car, loading her onto an AirCare Helicopter for the flight to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo. Her name was not released.
