COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A road rage incident on I-69 just south of the Branch-Calhoun County line on Saturday night led to the arrest of a woman after the Michigan State Police say she pointed a handgun at four occupants of another vehicle.
Troopers say two vehicles were traveling north on I-69 in Branch County and passed each other several times. The suspect in a red Pontiac Grand Am became angry to the level of pointing her handgun at the other vehicle in order to scare them.
Troopers say she was legal possession of the weapon. No shots were fired. Deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriffs Department made a felony stop of the Grand Am at I-69 and Michigan Avenue in Marshall where a 50-year-old woman from Kentucky was arrested and taken to the Branch County Jail on four counts of felonious assault with a handgun.
The suspect’s 21-year-old daughter was temporarily detained and released. A .38 caliber pistol was recovered from the vehicle. No one was injured in the incident.
