COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As a new pork processing facility in Branch County gets ready to go on line, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and Senator Debbie Stabenow pointed out the importance of agriculture to the states economy during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday at the new Clemens Food Group facility.
Snyder said Michigan is the second most diverse agricultural state in the nation.
Stabenow serves on the Senate Ag Committee. She said one out of four jobs in Michigan is tied to the agriculture industry.
Congressman Tim Walberg recounted the days when the plant was first proposed.
Clemens CEO Doug Clemens thanked many who helped make the project possible local numerous local officials and citizens.
Nearly 800 new employees will start work on September 5th when the first load of hogs arrives.
