COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -Coldwater Police say they had to use a taser this week during a case of indecent exposure to subdue a man who engaged in a struggle with an officer during the effort to arrest him.
Authorities were notified around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday by several people that a man had the front of his pants open and was exposing himself as he stood on the sidewalk near the intersection of South Jefferson and Pearl Streets. City Police were told that a young girl was among those victimized by the suspect.
As officers arrived at the scene, the man denied the accusations and began to walk away. It was when the arrest was attempted, an officer and the suspect scuffled with each other and eventually, the taser was fired and he was taken into custody.
36-year old James Zaroff of Coldwater is charged with aggravated indecent exposure and resisting/assaulting police. He remains lodged at the Branch County jail on $10,000 bond with a District Court probable cause hearing scheduled for June 29th and a preliminary exam set for July 5, 2017.
