PORTAGE (WKZO-AM/FM) — Portage Public Schools will be dishing out free food for hungry children through “Meet Up and Eat Up” events in the city through August 18.
Anyone under 18 can stop in for a free meal. Adult meals are $2.
Portage Public Schools Dining Services Director Susan Livingston said it’s not just food this year at the events in Portage.
“We have school teachers and media specialists coming out and they’re bringing books, reading to the kids and playing guitars,” Livingston said.
Livingston said 200,000 meals were served county-wide last year.
Districts throughout southwest Michigan are taking part in the program. A full list can be found here.
