COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The murder of a Branch County man is now considered a cold case and the Michigan State Police will be assisting with the investigation.
Branch County Sheriff John Pollack said during a Monday morning press conference that they are refocusing their efforts in trying to solve the May 2009 murder of Duane Finney.
Pollack said, ‘it’s been eight years and we have asked that this case be considered a cold case.”
Michigan State Police First Lt. Chuck Christiansen said two State Police detectives will assist the Branch County Sheriffs Detective who has been assigned to the case.
Additional resources will be brought in as needed.
Finney’s body was found May 12, 2009 in his car in a field not far from where he lived. He had been shot to death. His car came to rest about 500 feet from a rental storage unit parking lot near the Skate Ranch.
