SPRINGFIELD, MI (WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the victims from last weeks carbon monoxide poisoning incident in Springfield.
The adults have been identified as 44-year-old Harold Thomas Ward and 41-year-old Sandee Joe Confer. They are both still in Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids. Ward remains in critical condition while Confer is in stable condition. 11-year-old Chloe Michelle Stevens died in the incident.
Deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department discovered them unconscious in a home that had a gas powered generator inside.
Since there was no power inside, it was found that the generator was being used to power a kerosene heater created an extreme amount of carbon monoxide to accumulate within the building.
