KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — A sleep specialist at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo says the start of daylight saving time can cause major stress.
Dr. Alice Doe said springing forward can lead to big problems.
“When we change our body clock, even by an hour, our bodies are affected,” Doe said. “We can see serious consequences that can last a few of days, or sometimes, a week long or more.”
And those serious consequences could mean a rough start to the work week.
“Monday and Tuesday, they have the highest risk of car accidents, and stroke, and heart attack,” Doe said.
Doe is urging people to get plenty of sleep this weekend and to consider earlier bed times.
