BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM/FM) — An electrical fault is being blamed for a motorized cart fire at the Meijer on West Columbia Avenue in Battle Creek early Monday.
The sprinkler system put out the flames before firefighters responded to the store after 2 a.m. The building was in the process of being evacuated when they arrived, according to a press release from the city.
There were no reported injuries. The store was reopened after an inspection by health officials.
Total damage is estimated at $3,000.
