PORTER TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — Cass County Deputies are investigating a single vehicle crash, that might have been much worse if the young driver had forgotten to buckle up.
It resulted in the 18-year-old suffering only minor injuries despite slamming at full speed into a tree.
They say that Birdie Murphy fell asleep behind the wheel early this morning.
Deputies were dispatched shortly after 3am to M-40 near Shavehead Road in Porter Township, where they found Murphy, strapped into her seat.
She was the only occupant in the vehicle.
Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash.
She was taken to Three Rivers Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
