BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek woman who had nearly four times the legal limit of alcohol in her system was arrested over the weekend for driving drunk and on four counts of child endangerment, because her children were in the car at the time.
Officers report that she crashed her car into a tree, a fire hydrant and a telephone poll near her home in the 100 block of Battle Creek Avenue just after 9:30 Saturday night.
They say the 30-year-old could barely stand up, let alone pass any dexterity tests.
Her reading on the breathalyzer was a .318%. Anything above .08% is legally considered to be too drunk to drive. At .17% under Michigan law, you are considered to be a Super drunk, subject to tougher sanctions and penalties. Anything between .3 and .4% or higher can cause fatal respiratory depression.
Inside the car were her four children, ranging in age from one to 14-years-old.There were no injuries.
Child Protective Services will investigate the woman, who apparently has had issues with her parenting skills and CPS prior to this.
