KALAMAZOO/BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — The United Way will need volunteers on Monday in Battle Creek and in Kalamazoo on Wednesday to help package meal kits for this year’s United against Hunger drive.
The United Way will be providing all the food and packing material, the volunteers just help to assemble the 50,000 kits.
Robert Elkert with the United Way says they estimate it will take about two hours if they have about 100 people to help at each location.
He says that more than 56,000 people in the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek area are food insecure, that includes one in every five children.
The Monday event will begin at 11 am at Kellogg Arena. The Wednesday event begins at 7 am at the Salvation Army on South Burdick.
You can call ahead at 343 2524 or email getinvolved@uwbckr.org to let them know you want to volunteer..
