KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Officials from all of the police agencies in Kalamazoo County met this morning to launch their Smart 911 phone system.
As we reported on Friday, it’s a computer based information system that allows homeowners and businesses to prepare information that they might like a first responder to know in an emergency.
Everything from any medical conditions, to any special architectural features or warnings about dangerous chemicals or items that might be stored at a business to whether there is a pet on the premises that is particularly territorial or protective of the owner.
Anyone who would like to log on can do so at Smart911.com. and create a safety profile. They say it’s completely private and the information is available only to dispatch personnel.
It’s voluntary and you can leave only the information that you feel might be helpful.
