KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The revelation that Loy Norrix’s Principal is facing a sexual harassment suit and apparently has a history of similar behavior in other states comes at a time when the Harvey Weinstein scandal has reignited the #metoo movement.
Kalamazoo Public Schools are standing by their Principal.
The Legal Counsel for the district, Craig Noland issued a statement basically saying that Mr. Prewitt had been working as an administrator in the state of Michigan since 2006, first in the Beecher Community school district, and Joining the staff in Kalamazoo in 2013.
Noland says “He holds an active administrator certification issued by the Michigan Department of Education. We believe the case has no merit and will not comment further on pending litigation.”
That statement comes after the district’s own internal investigation of the complaint filed by a former counselor at Loy Norrix two years ago found no basis for the allegations.
