BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM/FM) — A man who allegedly shot a Battle Creek businessman in the head at his store in front of customers in May has been found incompetent to stand trial.
Police say Brian Zanetti drove from Illinois, walked into Battle Creek Mosaic and Tile in Urbandale, and, after asking where owner Frank Zanetti was, walked up and shot him to death at point-blank range.
The two are related, investigators said.
Zanetti was due for preliminary hearing Wednesday. Instead, based on reports from forensic psychologists, the judge ordered Zanetti back to a mental facility for treatment until he is deemed competent.
