COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Hearings in Branch County District Court for former Quincy Comunity Schools Superintendent Craig Artist have been pushed back three weeks.
A probable cause hearing on a felony count of Public Money Safekeeping is now scheduled to take place September 28, 2017 with a preliminary exam set for October 3, 2017.
A pre-trial conference on a misdemeanor count of Child Abuse-Failure to Report is also scheduled to take place September 28.
Artist resigned from his position in July after a controversy erupted earlier this year concerning the way Quincy School District officials handled sexual misconduct allegations against former teacher Jason Ferrell.
Ferrell is facing six charges of criminal sexual conduct in Branch County including two first degree counts in connection with alleged incidents involving a former female student. A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for November 20th in Branch County Circuit Court.
Ferrell has entered not guilty pleas to the charges.
A motion to modify his $300,000 bond was denied by Judge Bill O’Grady last Friday.
