BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — It took Battle Creek investigators over a year, but they claim they now have the evidence and the testimony to prove that 59-year-old Oliver Paige murdered his girlfriend.
45-year-old Liza Haney-Nelson was found dead in her apartment in June of 2016.
They believe that she had been beaten to death several days before.
They say Paige had a long history of domestic violence and had been their primary person of interest from the beginning. He was initially held for the crime but released after two days.
New evidence and information from two potential witnesses gave detectives what they needed to seek a warrant. Paige is being held without bond on an open murder charge in the Calhoun County Jail.
