QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – One person was seriously injured early today in a house fire on U.S. 12 in Quincy Township.
Branch County Central Dispatch says the victim was found in the home at 1122 East Chicago by firefighters after one of the occupants of the residence just east of the Village of Quincy called 911 shortly at 2:00 a.m. to report someone was trapped inside. According to Central Dispatch, the house was fully engulfed in flames when Quincy firemen arrived and the Coldwater and Allen Fire Departments provided mutual aid.
A helicopter landing zone was set up on the roadway for the chopper from West Michigan Air Care to fly out the injured person for treatment at Bronson hospital in Kalamazoo. The Branch County Sheriff’s Department Victim Services Unit assisted at the scene as did the Quincy Police Department and Michigan State Police.
U.S. 12 was closed for almost 2 hours because of the blaze which is under investigation by the Michigan State Fire Marshall’s office.
