CHARLOTTESVILLE,, VA (WTVB) – Michigan 7th District Republican Tim Walberg and his wife Sue were on the train with his fellow members of Congress that crashed on their way to a retreat in West Virginia Wednesday morning.
Walberg said on his Twitter feed that he and his wife were okay and that they were praying for those injured in the accident.
Walberg was one of several Michigan Republican members of Congress who were on an Amtrak train that hit a garbage truck near Charlottesville, Virginia.
The train was carrying Republicans from the House and Senate along with their families.
Congressmen Justin Amash, Mike Bishop, Bill Huizenga, Paul Mitchell, John Moolenaar, and Fred Upton were all on the train, while Congressmen Jack Bergman and Dave Trott were not.
One person in the garbage truck was killed.
