BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Police would like your help to find a violent purse snatcher who slashed a 67-year old woman during a mugging outside the Barnes and Noble on Beckley Road Friday morning.
Detectives believe the robber waited for a woman who looked vulnerable, confronting her in the parking lot and demanding her purse, at first she refused to give it up and after a brief struggle, the thief slashed at her with a knife across the abdomen and she let go of the purse.
He ran to his vehicle and drove off. She was taken to Bronson Battle Creek for stiches, and is expected to recover.
He is described as a tall white male in his 20’s wearing a black hoodie, a black hat, and a green jacket.
He escaped in an older forest green Toyota Camry east on Beckley Road.
