KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — There are no signs that the outrage over gun violence following the death of 17 students at a Florida high school are letting up.
The pressure is being applied directly to state legislators and national leaders to do something to end school shootings.
Hundreds of Kalamazoo students from Loy Norrix High, Maple Street Magnet, and Hillside Middle School held peaceful and non-disruptive demonstrations during lunch periods and other free time Wednesday. More and bigger protests are being planned for March.
Students from Kalamazoo Central, who started an Online Petition and adults from all over the state are expected to converge on the Michigan State Capitol this morning for a demonstration to support gun control legislation.
Pastor Linda McDonald says she would be happy if they were able to quash pro-gun legislation that would permit guns in schools, and recognize gun laws from other states.
The demonstration at the State Capitol begins at 10am.
