KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Bronson Methodist Hospital has released its list of the most popular names given to newborns in the last year. Gone this year are the biblical names, and the cowboy names and the soap opera monickers.
While the girls names sound like they came from a Jane Austen novel, the boys names are straight out of Dickens.
The top five girl’s names starting from the top: Emma, Ava, Evelyn, Charlotte and Ellie. The top five boy’s names starting with #1 were Liam, Oliver, Grayson, William and Ethan. The lists were compiled from the 35-hundred babies born last year at the Bronson Birthplace.
Bronson staff also released pictures of their New Years Babies and their parents.
At Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Chase Allen Lawson joined the world at 12:53 a.m. to be exact, beating the first baby in Grand Rapids by 15-minutes. Its Crystal and Brian Lawson’s first child. Crystal says Chase’s Jan. 1 birthday is “something cool he will always have.”
Bronson Battle Creek’s first baby of 2018 was born at 7:50 a.m. Hadler Mae Beene was late. Her due date was Dec. 23, so her parents, Jacey and Justin Beene, thought they might have a Christmas baby. Instead, Hadler waited until New Year’s morning to make her first appearance. This is their third child. Jacey says Hadler’s Jan. 1 birthday is “pretty cool,” adding with a laugh, “She will be our party animal.”
