BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Police have detailed the heroics of a 13-year-old boy who came to his mother’s rescue, when his dad, wielding a sword, allegedly attacked 35-year-old Alonda Robinson on Friday.
Det. Sgt Todd Elliott says the boy reportedly jumped on his dad’s back during the attack, putting his own safety at risk, giving his mother an opportunity to escape the assault, and even managed to take the sword away from him.
The suspect fled immediately after losing the weapon.
Elliott says the boy likely saved his mom, who is making slow progress after losing three fingers and nearly losing her feet.
Yesterday 35-year-old Anthony Whitlock was formally arraigned in his Jail Cell because he has been uncooperative and a security problem since his arrest, allegedly injuring two Deputies at the jail on Saturday.
He was charged with attempted murder, home invasion, and being a habitual offender.
Additional charges for assaulting officers were added for Saturday’s incident. He is being held on one-million dollars bond.
