CAMDEN, MI (WTVB) – Two men died Saturday morning in Hillsdale County’s Camden Township as an apparent lovers triangle led to gunfire. The suspect in the shooting was later found dead in his car.
Hillsdale County Sheriff Tim Parker says deputies were sent to 9020 Abbott at about 2:35 a.m. on a report of a Breaking and Entering in progress.
While deputies were racing to the home, the call was changed to a shooting. When they arrived, deputies found a man had been shot several times and was unresponsive.
Before deputies arrived, 25-year-old Joshua Daniel Miller of Camden fled in a Black Mazda 5.
Miller’s wife, 25-year-old Sadie Rae Miller, told investigators she was with 23-year-old Eddie Coleman Heathcoe of Grand Bay, Alabama who was said to be a male friend. She said her husband then arrived and an argument took place between the Millers. The Sheriff’s Department says Joshua Miller then shot Heathcoe who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
A “Be On the Lookout Bulletin” for Joshua Miller was then broadcast.
Hillsdale County Central Dispatch got a call at about 5:45 a.m. from a nearby residence on Abbott Road. The caller said they discovered a Black SUV type vehicle in their field. They reported the vehicle had gone off the road, hit some trees, drove through their yard and into the field. When deputies arrived at that residence, they found an unresponsive Joshua Miller. He was pronounced dead just before 6:30 a.m..
A Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigator was dispatched to the scene. The Lenawee County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to both scenes and autopsies were ordered to assist investigators.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Reading Emergency and the Camden Fire Department.
