SOUTH HAVEN (WKZO AM/FM) — South Haven Officers were dispatched Saturday evening at 8:30 to a report of a large fight with shots fired at Kalamazoo Street and Cartwright and were not sure what to expect.
What they found were several men squared off throwing punches at an apparent victim. They arrested two 24-year-old men, one from Covert and the other from South Haven for aggravated assault and resisting and obstructing officers.
Officers also recovered heroin and drug charges may be pursued.
They took one of the suspects and the victim to the emergency room for treatment.
The other suspect was booked into the Van Buren County Jail.
They could find no evidence that guns had been involved, and suspect it may have been firecrackers at a private gathering nearby that was unrelated to the assault.
