BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — There has been another death of a homeless person making headlines in Battle Creek.
Battle Cree police say a homeless woman was killed by a freight train as she was trying to cross the railroad tracks at East Fountain Street between M-66 and Dickman Road.
They say the engineer of the westbound train saw the woman at about 2:15 p.m. Thursday and repeatedly blew his horn, but she walked right onto the tracks.
They have apparently identified the woman but will not release the name of the 48-year-old until they have tracked down and notified her family.
The night before two other homeless men got into a fight behind the Battle Creek Liberty Convenience Store.
Now one is dead and the other charged with murder.
