BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Officials with the Food and Drug Administration say the number of people who have gotten salmonella from tainted boxes of Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal has now hit 100.
They say some stores didn’t get the word about the recall and still had the cereal on store shelves.
That is illegal, so officials are publicizing the recall again hoping to get all of the boxes off of store shelves.
Kellogg recalled an estimated 1.3 million cases of its Honey Smacks cereal from more than 30 states back in June due to the salmonella concern.
Published reports say the recalled products had use by dates of June 14, 2018 through June 14, 2019.
Officials are asking the public to check the boxes for expiration dates and if they run across the recalled boxes, to notify the grocer immediately.
