KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — A shooting, a couple of pursuits and a lot of help from residents has left a 37-year-old Kalamazoo Man in the County Jail this morning facing over half a dozen felony charges.
It began with shots fired in the 700 block of Stuart Avenue about 7:40 Friday evening. . The first witness was able to give a detailed description of the gunman and his car.
He was spotted near Portage and Crosstown and chased to the Edison neighborhood and crashed into another car.
He fled on foot.
Pursuing officers and a K-9 were able to recover his gun and eventually track him down with the help of residents along the way.
They discovered marijuana in his car and that the gun was stolen.
The new charges include: Fleeing and Eluding, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Stolen Firearm, Felony Firearm, Felon in possession of a Firearm, possession of Marijuana, and leaving the scene of a Traffic Crash.
