RICHLAND (WKZO-AM/FM) — A new contamination threat that is showing up all over the state, is also appearing close to home.
Governor Rick Snyder is asking Attorney General Bill Schuette to sue 3M, the company that made the firefighting foam and ScotchGaurd containing PFOS, the suspected carcinogen that is appearing in water wells around the state.
31 sites statewide have been identified and other suspected sites are being tested, like Kellogg Airport in Battle Creek.
There will be a presentation in Richland Township next week to release test results from wells around the former Production Plated Plastics site on 34th Street, where levels of the chemical exceeding safe standards have been found in the wells of 4 nearby homes.
The meeting will be Wednesday night at the Living Hope Communty Church on CD Avenue. There will be an open house at 5:30 and a program at 6:30.
