BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The 49th Annual Bronson Polish Festival kicks off Thursday night in the air-conditioned comfort of the St. Mary’s Gymnasium.
The opening ceremonies will feature the crowning of the festival King and Queen. Longtime Bronson residents and in-laws Duane and Patty Kubasiak were crowned last year.
There will also be the crowning of the Prince and Princess as well as the Junior Prince and Princess.
The opening ceremonies will also feature a Barbie Busia Contest which invites all grandmothers to show how beautiful they are.
Opening night will be capped by fireworks at dark at the Bronson Junior and Senior High School.
Highlights of Friday’s schedule include Kids Day festivities at Douglas Park from 10:00 a.m.-12 noon, Dani and Garrett Jamerson performing at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Park and a Talent Show starting at 7:00 p..m at the Community Foundation Building which is the old Bronson Theatre.
One of the highlights of the final day of the Festival on Saturday is the annual parade which starts at 1:00 p.m.. The parade will start at Saint Mary’s of Assumption Church and head east on U.S. 12 to Wayne Street
The theme will be “Roll Out the Barrel in Bronson” and longtime Bronson Fire Chief Brent Wilber will be the Grand Marshall. Honorary Grand Marshalls will be the state champion Bronson girl’s volleyball and boys bowling teams along with the state qualifying Bronson girls bowling team and state championship wrestler Ben Modert.
